My Story
The Reverend Canon Jason Constantine is a native of Michigan but also considers Winston Salem, North Carolina, home. He conducted his undergraduate education at Central Michigan University, majoring in history and minoring in music and museum studies. Fr. Constantine holds a master’s degree in history from Central Michigan University, focused on theological development in Colonial New England. His Master of Divinity Degree is from The Divinity School at Duke University. He received his initial ministerial experience serving three United Methodist Churches in North Carolina after graduating Duke Divinity in 2006.
Fr. Constantine entered the Navy Reserve as a chaplain in 2008 and came on active duty in 2011. In 2014 he received the Military Chaplains Association’s Distinguished Service Award. In January of 2017, the Right Rev. Derek Jones ordained Fr. Constantine to the diaconate. Following a year of overseas duty, he returned to the Continental United States and was ordained to the priesthood by Bp. Jones on April 10, 2018.
In 2019, Fr. Constantine became a Distance Tutorial facilitator. Since then, he has facilitated multiple classes as well as supported Residential Tutorials. Fr. Constantine has a passionate interest in the pre-Reformation Church in England and is keen to point out that before there was a Church of England there was the Church in England. Of particular interest is the Church during the Anglo-Saxon period in which foundational aspects of the Anglican Tradition formed. Although still very much a novice in regard to reading Old English (formally known as Anglo-Saxon), Fr. Constantine enjoys reading primary texts in Middle English and is fascinated by the Book of Common Prayer and King James’ Bible’s contributions to the transition from Pre-Modern English to Modern English as well as the infusion of theology into civil society through these same contributions.
On June 21, 2025, Fr. Constantine was elevated to Canon to the Suffragan, supporting the Right Reverend Marshall MacClellan. In addition to his responsibilities on the bishop’s staff, Fr. Constantine serves as Priest in Charge of Saint Martin’s Anglican Community on Oahu, Hawaii, part of Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam’s Command Religious Program. He also serves as the Unit Chaplain for Troop 97, Aloha Council, Scouting America.
Currently, Chaplain Constantine serves as the Deputy Force Chaplain for US Marine Corps Forces, Pacific.
